How Copper Pearl Turned a Stalled App Into a Higher-Value Mobile Channel with Appbrew

About Copper Pearl
Copper Pearl is a US-based direct-to-consumer brand making premium baby and toddler essentials. The catalog spans bandana bibs, knit swaddle blankets, multi-use nursing and car seat covers, sleep sacks, pajamas, and bath products, all built around a design-first look that parents recognize on sight.
The brand runs on Shopify Plus and is part of the Peak21 portfolio. Copper Pearl already had a loyal customer base and healthy average basket sizes. What it did not have was a mobile app that reflected that strength. The app existed, but it was not pulling its weight.
The challenge
A previous app builder that had plateaued
Copper Pearl had run its mobile app on Tapcart for over a year. In that time the app settled at roughly 4% of total company sales and stopped growing. For a brand with strong repeat behavior and a recognizable design language, that was a channel stuck well below its potential.
Skepticism about switching
Because the previous platform had underdelivered, the team was cautious about migrating. They wanted to see a live test build and speak with other brands that had moved off Tapcart before committing, rather than take the change on faith.
A migration that could not disrupt existing users
Copper Pearl already had customers using its app. Any move had to bring those users onto the new platform through an in-place update, without forcing anyone to find and download a separate app.

The solution
Appbrew rebuilt the Copper Pearl app as a native experience aligned to the brand's refreshed Shopify Plus storefront, then migrated existing users across without friction.
Design matched to the brand
Appbrew's design team built a custom UI that mirrors Copper Pearl's updated storefront theme, so the app feels like a continuation of the brand rather than a stripped-down copy. Scope and feedback were tracked in a shared review document throughout the build.

Product pages built for how baby apparel actually sells
Appbrew created custom product-page blocks tailored to multi-pack bibs, apparel sizing, and swaddles, plus color-swatch selection across both product and collection views. These are the details that make browsing and choosing variants effortless on a phone.

Native search and reviews
The app integrates Shopify Search with SearchTap for fast, filtered discovery, and Okendo reviews are embedded natively so shoppers see social proof at the point of decision.

Retention and messaging built in
A Klaviyo integration powers push campaigns and lifecycle automation, including abandoned cart, welcome, and back-in-stock notifications. Firebase and Facebook Pixel were added for analytics and attribution.

The results
The app moved from an underused channel to one that produces measurably more valuable customers who buy sooner, buy more per order, and buy at full price.
App shoppers spend about 20% more per order
Average order value is $93.67 on the app versus $78.36 on the web, driven by deeper baskets: app orders average 3.48 distinct items versus 2.94 on the web.
App customers come back 19 days sooner
The median time to a second purchase is 48 days on the app versus 67 days on the web, a 28% faster repeat cycle in a category where reordering is usually slow.
Most app revenue is full-price
About 67% of app revenue ($226,249.57 of $336,656.59) is earned with no discount code applied, so the higher order value is not being bought with markdowns.
Higher lifetime value
App customers generate roughly 25% more revenue over their recorded lifetime than web customers, $126.18 versus $101.32.
Retention messaging that pays for itself
Push notifications have driven $17,943.68 in attributed revenue across 194 orders, led by automated abandoned-cart and welcome flows, with a 10.6% push-open-to-purchase rate.
A relaunch that reignited growth
After Appbrew activated the QR code and smart banners in spring 2026, monthly app revenue grew from $12,518 in March to $48,317 in August, nearly quadrupling the channel in six months.

Why Copper Pearl chose Appbrew
Copper Pearl did not need another app builder. It had already tried one and watched it stall. What the team needed was a platform that could turn mobile into a genuine growth channel and a partner that would prove it before asking for commitment.
Appbrew delivered a native app matched to Copper Pearl's brand, a clean in-place migration that carried existing users over without disruption, and the retention and acquisition tooling, from Klaviyo push automation to web-to-app banners and QR codes, needed to grow the channel. Backed by a support team the brand describes as responsive and proactive, the result is a mobile channel that now produces higher-value, more loyal customers than the web.
